Transitional Lighting and Home Decor
About Transitional Style
Transitional style lighting is what happens when the major trends start leaving Traditional style and start moving toward Contemporary. It is characterized by recognizable elements of Traditional style, simplified. Multiple curves become one curve. Lines with little flourishes attached lose the decoration. Some curves become straight lines. Elements that were thick become thin. Chandeliers that were dense with decoration become airy.
Since Transitional style combines Traditional with Contemporary, you can have a Traditional silhouette with an non-traditional finish, such as nickel or chrome. Or you can have a Contemporary design with a bronze finish and beige glass. Transitional is wonderful for people who want to clean up the design of their home but don't want to make the full jump into Contemporary. It gives a freshness and "now" feeling to rooms.
