About Kichler Lighting

Product Selection

For 75 years, Kichler Lighting has been an innovative leader in the lighting industry, providing the kind of illumination you need for every area of your home, indoors and out. Lamps Beautiful is proud to be an authorized dealer for Kichler.

Kichler's designers search the world for inspiration and consistently come up with Contemporary, Transitional, and Traditional styles that are not only pleasing to look at, but give the right kind of light for working, playing, or relaxing at home. Every year some new interior design trends come into popularity. These trends contain elements such as colors of paint, fabrics, and metal finishes. Some trends last for years, such as the one we are in now--a move toward Contemporary design, away from Traditional. The result has been a style called Transitional, which is a blend of Traditional and Contemporary. Kichler designers are aware of trends, and they create lighting that fits in with current interior design. They have a way of picking glass with a certain color and texture that goes perfectly with the finish and color of the metal. Of course, not every customer wants their house furnished according to current trends, so Kichler keeps a selection of other long standing styles, such as Craftsman, Country/Lodge, Tiffany, and Traditional in the line.

If you need better light in your kitchen, Kichler has a complete selection of island lights, pendants, ceiling fixtures, and under-cabinet lighting that make preparing and enjoying food a delightful experience. Another space where good lighting is essential is the bathroom. There is nothing like over-the-mirror vanity fixtures and side wall sconces along with a ceiling light to make getting ready easier.

Outdoor lighting is important for safety and full use of the property at night. Kichler makes a large assortment of landscape lighting including pathway, in-ground, step, accent spots, floods lights, deck lights, ceiling fans, and chandeliers for outdoor living. Up-to-date developments such as LED and Dark Sky compliant wall lanterns complete the selection. When you have a nighttime party on the patio your guests will appreciate the beautiful surroundings lit by Kichler landscape fixtures. And you can be sure they will be safe when walking around the deck, down the sidewalk, or to their car afterward.

Create interesting moods in your dining and living rooms by using a combination of chandeliers, pendants, wall sconces, table lamps, and floor lamps. Kichler creates large collections of matching fixtures that all have the same style and finish providing a unified look. This makes it easier for you to pick coordinated lights for one room or adjoining rooms in an open floor plan.

History

In 1938 L. D. Kichler started a small lighting company in Cleveland, Ohio which was purchased in 1954 by Sam Minoff who promised to keep the original company name. Sam was a hard-working man who made his products at night and sold them during the day with only the help of his wife as bookkeeper and one other employee.

His hard work paid off and the company grew throughout the 1960s. It went from a 3,000 square foot location to an entire floor of a building, then finally to the current 640,000 square foot building.

Sam's children Barry, Roy, and Amy all fill important positions in the company as do Amy's husband and two of the grandchildren--Dave and Drew. Dave had wanted to work for the family company since he was a child and has a deep respect for the hard work of his elders that turned a small operation into the large, important part of the lighting industry it is today. This is the heritage of Kichler Lighting and the foundation for the good design and business decisions it continues to make.
